Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Care in Medellín
-
Medellín is one of Colombia’s most popular destinations for international dental patients because it combines experienced dental specialists, modern clinics, convenient international access, and a comfortable setting for recovery. Dental Tourism Colombia helps coordinate the process before and during your trip so you know what to expect before arriving.
-
Start with our free online consultation. You will submit photos of your teeth and can also upload recent X-rays or an existing treatment plan if you have them. Our dental team will review your case and provide a preliminary recommendation and estimated pricing before you book your trip.
-
Patients travel to Medellín for treatments including porcelain and composite veneers, dental implants, crowns and bridges, full-mouth restorations, root canals, extractions, teeth whitening, cleanings, and other general and restorative dentistry. More complex cases may involve several dental specialists.
-
The length of your trip depends on the procedure. Composite veneers can often be completed in 1 to 2 days, while porcelain veneers generally require around 4 to 6 days. Dental implants usually require two separate trips, with several months of healing between the implant placement and the final restoration.
-
For confirmed treatment cases, Dental Tourism Colombia can coordinate transportation related to your dental trip, including airport pickup, transportation to your accommodation, rides to scheduled dental appointments, and airport drop-off. Transportation is not generally included for consultation-only visits.
-
English support is available for international patients. Dental Tourism Colombia also helps coordinate communication with the dental team so treatment recommendations, scheduling, costs, and next steps are clearly explained.
-
Local anesthesia is used for most dental procedures. IV sedation may also be available for longer or more complex treatments, or for patients who are especially anxious about dental care. Sedation recommendations depend on the procedure and your medical history.
-
Dental Tourism Colombia remains available after your trip to help coordinate follow-up with the treating dental team. Porcelain dental work is generally covered by a one-year warranty and dental implants by a three-year warranty, assuming proper care and that the issue falls within the warranty terms. Travel and accommodation costs for a return visit are not covered.
